lot going on

you guys haven't heard much from me lately, so let me give you the two major updates, and maybe i'll fill in the blanks later.

1) i was laid off from my job. yup....terence is officially unemployed. budget cuts...headcount reduction...yada yada yada. my last day was this past friday. so...what's terence going to do now? well, hopefully find another job. but before that....

2) i'm writing this from london. on my way to kenya. where i will be for THREE great weeks. my folks are already there, in mombasa. and brian leaves this coming wednesday. hang out on the coast, 7 day safari, nairobi. it will be good times.

so yeah, it didn't take long for me to hit the road again. granted...this trip has been in the 'planning' stages for some time now. but it wasn't a reality until i was sitting on the plane. i didn't get my newly renewed passport until this past thursday. i didn't actually get my plane tickets until this past friday. and yes...i left on sunday.

alright people...out for now. this british pound thing sucks, and this internet is expensive. hopefully i'll write more later about the travels...

I used to leave my car unlocked because if I locked it idiots would break the windows and/or slash the convertible top. There was nothing of value in it whatsoever, or so I thought. Someone stole the shift knob! Some other guy stole the owner's manual. Unbelievably the latter crackhead got busted in Pacifica in possession of the stolen manual and the cops returned it to me based on the VIN. There is literally nothing that a crackhead won't steal.

how do you get the news?

interesting article about youth's apparent disinterest in the news. i know i don't read the paper every day (though i swear by sundays with it). but i read online, (used) to listen to NPR every AM, and have a gajillion RSS posts i sift through.

what i was thinking though is...might it actually be a disservice to be sitting at home in front of the TV watching news show. i mean...my mom watches the news every night, and she mostly wholeheartedly believes some of the mindless drabble that comes out of the anchors mouths. i mean...i'd rather youth not pay attention to news at all if they were rather gonna tune to fox news or something...

and...i'm terribly interested in the notion of "self-programming" what we want to see/hear/read. they mention it in article, albeit briefly. i'd love to write out more of my thoughts...but honestly, it seems like too much effort.

vegas

was gonna do a big vegas post from our trip a couple weeks ago, but i'm way too lazy. so bullet format...

- for my boy's wedding...at...BELLAGIO. yeah...complete with fountains synchronized to a song for their first kiss...and elvis at their reception

- the new suites at the venetian are SICK. thank god i have a players card (in more ways than one....zow!)

- tao beach (mini (really mini) version of rehab) was great

- only lost a couple hundred = good weekend

- kathleen looks great in green

- got to see yat and seema...good times

- missed our flight on sunday morning...par for the course right??

psyched about the simpsons movie coming out soon?? well, you know the residents of springfield are. looks like i'll have to head down to mountain view though to participate myself. oh you haven't heard? 12 7-11's nationwide have been transformed into Kwik-E-Marts. i think it's hilarious. but...not sure we need any more 7-11 jokes in our community ya know???

4th of july

i FINALLY had a BBQ at my apartment. of course i had to import a grill from albany (thanks kathleen), but whatever. it was awesome. people were in and out all day. you know how it is on the 4th...everyone has somewhere to be. the one real disappointment was that nattie couldn't make it. i swear that dog is always the life of any get togther i have. the weather was gorgeous...sunny, bright, clear, and surprisingly warm. there was plenty of food and beer. burgers, ribs, sausage, chicken, the works. hopefully the food was good (i hardly ate since i was manning the grill most of the day). of course we got some flip cup in.


i enjoyed the pool...no one willingly wanted to get in the pool with me. but since when does willingness matter right??and don't blame me for the above. G and aashish thought it would be brilliant to toss kathleen in. not my fault at all. but then again...maybe the below gave them some inspiration.

considering that only the great pyramids at giza remain from the 7 wonders of the ancient world, someone took it upon himself to have the world vote on what should be the new 7 wonders of the world. kinda cool. makes you want to hit the road and travel. christ the redeemer in rio is probably next on my list. i've got three of the seven crossed off. how about you??
